A Little Game Preparation

I'm having a blast with cartoons of Ed, as you can see. Not only are they easier, they're also a little "rarer" I guess you could say. Some people might actually be noticing a change in my inks (for those who know me really well). I usually ink with india ink and a Windsor-Newton series 7 sable #1 brush. Lately, because I have this game-used signed Belfour stick on my art table, I haven't been wanting to move things aside to be on a flatter surface to get to my inks. I've been opting to sit at my airbrush table (drafting table) and just use a simple felt-tip pen. Now... these pictures will age but I don't mind... I have one of an eagle I did soooo long ago and the paper yellowed and the ink is still decent. Go figure!! Regardless, there's such a thing as getting a nice copy on cardstock and oh... just enjoying a piece of "aged" art... heh.

Anyway... this one I thought I'd try to do some game preparation (as you can see it's one of those Center Ice practice jersey's), and I hope to add more cute, goofy cartoons similar to this. You also may never know.. I have one in mind that includes some of the team and Talon and no Eddie... so I could get used to doing these - they're too much fun!!!!

I included a tight shot of Ed's face in this one - the face is just too cute and I like to let people who only can see things from a distance and online etc have a few different scans. I'd had an earlier gallery entry with three sections, far away, Ed's face and the eagle.. and had to drop the latter two to save space when we were at the other isp. Hopefully I can keep these up for a while, my site is so heavily graphics-driven it's not even funny!! Oh yeah.. if you look closely at Talon, you will see some blue lines around him. That's precisely right, you're not seeing things. I scan my linework at full color because it just catches the inklines SO much better. Those bluelines are the blue guidelines I use to draw from... to get them out of the scan if I didn't want them.. simply scanning in at regular b&w or getting a b&w copy and scanning that in would work. They are not photocopied easily... in fact.. the lines that were going to be the background before I said "this'll work" didn't even show up since they were so light, and this is color.
Enjoy!
